Please read the following terms, conditions and disclaimer information carefully before proceeding with your order.
You are placing your order subject to the terms & conditions detailed in this document.
Note that all terms & conditions will apply to every order, subject to material type where applicable. Disclaimers are based on your choice of material and finishing options as detailed in this document.
Our standard manufacturing guarantee will still apply.
The drawing & confirmation sheet has been provided to you. Please ensure that you have checked the drawing & confirmation sheet, and that you are satisfied that all details are correct before proceeding.
A customer deposit is required to book or hold specific materials or templating. If the customer wishes to cancel their order it must be done within three working days from the order date otherwise this deposit is non-refundable. The deposit is to cover the cost of time, material handling, storage and restocking. Booked materials will only be held for up to six months after which the company reserves the right to provide replacement material of a similar nature. Material damaged in storage will also be replaced with material of a similar nature (4.2).
The purpose of a deposit is to reserve a templating time or to hold a specific material. The deposit is not to hold the quoted price. All prices quoted are valid for ninety days from date of quotation and are subject to our standard terms & conditions.
If a customer wishes to change the template or fitting date we require a minimum of 72 hours’ notice otherwise, we reserve the right to charge an additional amount for re-booking or cancellation on the day. (4.3)
A deposit paid to place an order, but where no slabs have been labelled, is subject to material availability at the time of order. Not all colours are available 100% of the time. If a specific colour is out of stock at the time the order is placed the customer may need to wait for it to be restocked or the Company may be able to offer a material of similar characteristics.
Some colours may also be discontinued over time as trends change. Orders placed in these circumstances the Company reserves the right to offer an alternative available material.
A small sample cannot always reflect the true colour and may vary from the finished product supplied. If a specific colour is required, then a visit to our warehouse is highly recommended to select from existing stock. (2.3)
Please read the following information very carefully before proceeding with your order. We cannot stress highly enough the importance of being aware of the characteristics of natural stone.
Whilst granite, marble and quartzite are expensive and used widely on high end kitchens it does not mean that they are perfect materials. Being natural stone, they will have flaws such as irregular veins, markings and textured finishes. Particular attention should be given to the material you choose in relation to the above characteristics.
The slabs on display in our warehouse should be inspected thoroughly for any of these inherent markings. You should also be aware that when your worktop is installed it will normally be highlighted by bright lighting such as spotlights, LED lighting or by bright sunlight shining through windows. This may well highlight some of the above imperfections that you may not have noticed on your initial inspection of the slabs in our warehouse.
Also, with the worktops being installed on a flat surface the angle may give a different appearance to your expectation. The closer you look and view natural stone the more imperfections you will find. A typical example would be to take a closeup picture of any natural stone, especially with high resolution cameras now found in most phones, and you will see it has an even more open structure than you had first imagined.
Whilst we do our best to avoid any unnecessary markings and veining, the natural structure of these materials cannot be changed therefore any natural stone worktop we supply will be subject to having some or all of these inherent characteristics. (2.2)
With this in mind, please consider this information very carefully before placing an order. Complaints relating to any of the above are not covered by our Manufacturer’s guarantee. All worktops are sold strictly subject to the above conditions. Acceptance of your order is conditional upon your acceptance of these conditions, express, implied or otherwise. Any variations of these conditions shall only be binding if agreed by Lamont Stone Ltd, including all subsidiary & linked companies, in writing.
The Company: Lamont Stone Ltd, including all subsidiary & linked companies.
The Customer: The person or persons who have signed the order form.
The Contract: The contract between the Company and the Customer for the sale and purchase of the goods incorporating these conditions.
The Goods: The products detailed on the order form.
The Price: The total of all goods, services and taxes shown on the order form.
Delivery date: The date notified to the customer by the company subsequent to the order being placed.
All contracts between the Company and the Customer shall be subject to these and only these terms and conditions of sale. No variation, waiver or addition to these conditions shall be binding unless agreed in writing and signed by both the Company and the Customer.
If part of your order requires us to work with, around, or modify existing elements, we must highlight the possible risks that can occur whilst carrying out fabrication or site works.
Breaking joints to modify counters can result in chips or breakage even when the utmost care is taken. Glues that hold joints are, in some cases, stronger than the stone itself.
May remove plaster from the wall when taken off.
If any piece breaks during production, delivery or installation an exact match cannot be guaranteed should a replacement be required. There is always a risk when working with existing or customer-supplied materials and this must be considered before proceeding.
Whilst we take every care with customer supplied material, we cannot take responsibility for any cracks or damage that may be in the material supplied to us.
Before a customer agrees to proceed with an order using existing material, they should be fully aware of the above facts. You are placing your order subject to the above conditions.
Marble is a very soft and porous stone that can scratch, chip, stain and or etch easier than other types of natural stone. We generally recommend using marble in bathroom, vanity or fireplace applications and whilst marble can also make a beautiful kitchen worktop, careful consideration must be given to lifestyle and maintenance requirement before selecting this material.
We do not guarantee marble against the following:
Like any natural material, the differences in texture, colour and lustre of the stone can in no way be considered as defects. These are natural characteristics of the marble and give it its own natural beauty and individuality. Due to variations in colour and similar factors we always recommend a visit to our showroom to see the current slabs in person at time of order as a small sample cannot always reflect accurately the colour and diversity of the slabs. (2.3)
As each slab is unique, it is important to note that no slab will be perfect due to its natural structure. Such features are an inherent part of the material and will not reduce the quality of the product. Careful consideration should be given as to whether the structure, veining and colour variation of the particular slab you have chosen will be acceptable. It will not be possible to eliminate any of these natural markings after the worktop has been installed. Should you have any concerns regarding the material you have chosen please consult a member of our fully trained staff who will be able to help and advise you before proceeding with your order.
Also be aware that if marble does become damaged or marked it is very difficult to repair. It will require a specialist to make a repair as close to the original condition as possible.
Before a customer agrees to proceed with an order for a marble worktop, they should be fully aware of the above facts. You are placing your order subject to the above conditions.
Azerocare is a patented process applied to selected marble slabs. This can aid maintenance of the marble surface. We recommend the following maintenance schedule to maintain all Azerocare products.
For daily cleaning, use a wet non-abrasive cloth. To remove any surface dirt, simply use lukewarm water and neutral soap.
The Azerocare process is designed to protect natural stone against staining and etching, but not against scratches or chipping. Therefore, it is absolutely forbidden to use any abrasive products or tools such as steel wool, Scotch-Brite or abrasive pastes and powders. The use of abrasive materials removes the effect of the Azerocare process, which cannot be restored.
Always use chopping boards, coasters, sauce mats and trivets and avoid dragging abrasive materials over the surface such as pots, pans, cups, bottles, mugs and dishes.
Do not use sharp objects such as blades and cutters on Azerocare treated surfaces. Do not affect or remove portions of Azerocare Plus treated surfaces. As is recommended for any kitchen surface with natural stone, organic compounds need to be promptly removed from the stone surface. This will avoid damaging or staining the surface which is protected for a limited time period. Based on the more or less aggressive nature of the organic substance, protection against organic compounds may last up to 24 hours.
This product is not recommended for high traffic areas and may not be suitable for every application. Should you have any concerns regarding this process prior to selection of material please consult a member of our fully trained staff who will be able to help and advise you.
Before a customer agrees to proceed with an order for an Azerocare product, they should be fully aware of the above facts. You are placing your order subject to the above conditions.
Granite is a fully natural product. During the natural formation process a variety of irregularities can occur in colour and texture. These can be seen in various ways such as micro pores, vents, fissures and veins.

Quartz is an engineered stone made from approximately 90% crushed quartz bound together using polymer resins. It is not only harder than many types of natural stone but also provides a non-porous, more flexible material with a uniform structure meaning it does not have any natural veins, fissures and similar features. Even though this is an engineered product, it is composed with the addition of natural raw materials and pigments to create the pattern and vein finishes required. Therefore, there are irregular aspects you should expect to observe in certain colours.
The surface has very little porosity, resists etching and stains so is generally easy to maintain. When properly maintained it does not support the growth of mould, mildew or bacteria.
However, it is not indestructible and can be damaged if scratched, chipped and similar. Abrasive chemicals can also damage the quartz surface. Only products supplied by Lamont Stone have been tried and tested on our Quartz surfaces and we recommend that these should be used on a regular basis to keep your work surfaces in pristine condition.
We recommend regular use of the care kit provided to maintain the surface of the quartz. Refills available at: lamontstone.com/catalogue.php
Note: Non-polished or textured finishes may require additional aftercare to maintain their appearance. Before a customer agrees to proceed with an order for a quartz worktop, they should be fully aware of the above facts. You are placing your order subject to the above conditions.
Quartzite is a natural, metamorphic rock composed of crystallized quartz grains, sandstone in its original form. With its unique, glassy appearance, it has a similar look to marble but with the strength of granite. Quartzite is a fully natural product. During the natural formation process a variety of irregularities can occur in colour and texture of the material. These can be seen in various ways such as micro pores, vents, fissures and veins. In order to try to reduce the impact of these characteristics, and to provide products of the highest quality, all slabs are filled, resined, reinforced, lacquered and polished where necessary to create a luxury work surface.
Like any natural material, the differences in texture, colour and lustre of the stone can in no way be considered as defects. These are natural characteristics of the stone and give it its own natural beauty and individuality. Due to variations in colour we always recommend a visit to our showroom to see the current slab or slabs in person at time of order as a small sample cannot always reflect accurately the colour and diversity of the slabs. Quartzite of different colours have different porosity levels. Slabs of quartzite that are highly metamorphosed contain tightly bonded minerals and have very low levels of porosity. Then there are quartzite types that have been subjected to lesser heat and pressure conditions within the Earth’s crust. These are considered to be slightly more porous in nature, but not as porous as limestone or marble. We recommend regularly sealing worktops with the care kit provided to make them as non-porous as possible. Refills available at: lamontstone.com/catalogue.php
Regardless of the nature or frequency of usage, quartzite worktops do not etch easily. Our worktops are sturdier and harder than granite. However, they do require some maintenance and care to keep them looking as good as new.
Before a customer agrees to proceed with an order for a quartzite worktop, they should be fully aware of the above facts. You are placing your order subject to the above conditions.
Sintered stones are engineered products made of 100% natural materials. Based on a blend of over 20 minerals extracted from nature they are formed through a high-tech process of extreme heat and pressure, fusing the natural minerals and raw materials into a dense, non-porous slab. The manufacturing process represents an accelerated version of the metamorphic change natural stone undergoes when it is subject to extreme pressure and temperature over thousands of years. Unlike engineered quartz, these products contain no binders or resins making them a durable and low maintenance option. Sintered stones have a wide range of applications both commercial, domestic and outdoors.
All of the above qualities make these products very practical for work surfaces. However, customers should also be aware of the following:
Although the material is very hard wearing it can still be damaged. Please take care not to knock the edge or drop anything onto the top surface. The material may react the same as you would expect a glass work surface to react. Please note a chip in this material can be very difficult or almost impossible to repair.
If this material gets cracked by accidental damage or with undue pressure it is impossible to repair.
Tip: if a chip is knocked out, please retain the chipped piece, as this offers the best chance of a quality repair.
Please note that sintered surfaces are only surface printed. They are not full bodied therefore edges and underside will be a different colour and finish from the surface. Drainer grooves would not be recommended as the finish would not be consistent.
Introducing pressure onto any surface such as heavy tools, appliances or someone leaning or standing on a worktop can expose the counters to pressure and you may see a crack appearing. The stress may travel throughout the slab until it finds a weak point. This may not be near the area that was under pressure but rather where the stress in the slab has found an outlet. This can sometimes be seen where a cut-out is made in the slab, such as a hob, sink or notch.
Please note a crack can be very difficult or almost impossible to repair depending on the material.
Unsupported overhangs that exceed certain limits will require support to be fitted below the counter to provide additional stability. The weight of stone itself that is unsupported can become stressed over a period of time. The overhang itself could become unstable but also the stress could travel through the slab until it finds a weak point. This may not be near the area that is unsupported but rather where the stress in the slab has found an outlet. This can sometimes be seen where a cut-out is made in the slab, such as a hob or sink. This may be exacerbated if the counter is also put under any undue pressure.
To protect your worktop:
Steel brackets can be provided by Lamont Stone at an additional cost, or alternative support can be fitted by the Customer, Designer or Builder. Our drawing team will advise if additional support is required, subject to final site survey.
Before a customer agrees to proceed with an order including a supported or unsupported overhang, they should be fully aware of the above facts. You are placing your order subject to the above conditions.
Stone in general is heat resistant, but it does need protection from high temperatures or sudden extreme temperature changes. Therefore, hot pots, pans and similar items should never be placed directly onto any work surface. A trivet should always be used to protect the work surface from extreme heat. Also, any cooking appliances such as cookers, chip pans and toasters should also have some sort of heat pad to stop excessive heat being transferred to the work surface.
The damage caused can present in a number of ways, such as crack, hairline fracture, open vein, loss of shine or colour change.
Certain colours in different products are available with the option of book-matching. This is the use of two mirrored slabs joined to each other with the veins mirroring at the joint like pages of an open book. This is not something that is automatically applied to every job or quote for an applicable colour but rather an additional service which is available on request and will be charged accordingly.
If a customer wishes to see what a matched job would look like, we can provide a computerised render showing exactly how the markings and veins will look on the finished product before proceeding with their order.
Please be aware that whilst every care is taken to supply a perfectly matched joint, every joint will not be symmetrical in any material. The first impression you get when you look at a book match job is a lovely mirror image however, when looking closer you may find various veins and markings that will not match completely. This is due to the irregular structure of the material we are working with and the fabrication required to create the job. Therefore, a tolerance must be taken into consideration when placing an order for a book or vein match job as there may well be some degree of misalignment at the joint. Not all colours or materials are available for book match. If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of our team before signing off as we cannot be responsible if you are not satisfied with the final matched product.
On a few materials due to transportation and handling, some veining or fissures may fracture slightly after installation and this can break the polished surface. This is not normally the case, however should this happen, it can easily be rectified on site by using the same epoxy resins and polishing process used in the factory for finished work surfaces.
Standard joints are butt glued and filled with a coloured, matched polyester glue. They have a tolerance of 1–2 mm in width which creates a flush fitting, hygienic joint. This method is used on all worktops unless otherwise specified.
Micro joints can be achieved during manufacture to provide a less noticeable joint of around 0.5 mm giving a much more inconspicuous seamless appearance. This joint is only available in Quartz and in certain layouts and must be requested at time of order as it incurs an additional cost. Please note this is not possible on wall panels. The drawing team can advise, if required, subject to final site survey.
Stone worktops can vary in thickness therefore your finished worktop can vary by plus or minus 1 mm.
Anyone who chooses this finish must be aware that when worktops are not polished to a high finish, they are more difficult to look after. They are more porous and will be more prone to absorbing oil and various other liquids which can be difficult to remove. Should you have any concerns regarding the material you have chosen please consult a member of our fully trained staff who will be able to help and advise you before proceeding with your order.
Draining grooves are purely aesthetic in nature and do not provide drainage. The drainer should be treated the same as the main top surface, cleaning and drying the area after each use. Any undrained or standing water left to dry in could lead to the build-up of limescale from geographical locations with harder water than others or discolouration of the counter due to moisture absorption.
Ironically, cutting grooves into a stone worktop actually increases the surface area, further increasing water tension. There are no maintenance-free solutions for drainer grooves when it comes to countertop usage. The above must be taken into consideration before proceeding with your order.
Recessed drainers are designed to contain a reasonable amount of excess water on the worktop. They will prevent water from running over the edge onto the units and floor. But similar to the grooves above, they will not drain water and therefore are subject to the same guidelines.
Drainer grooves and recessed drainers are not suitable in all materials. Should you have any concerns regarding the material you have chosen please consult a member of our fully trained staff who will be able to help and advise you before proceeding with your order.
